Holiday 2023 edition

I think we all instinctively become more reflective this time of year. Perhaps it’s the earlier darkening skies that have us turning inward and asking ourselves “what would just simply feel good to do?” For me, this season it’s been making.

I’ve been making my house a home again after years of putting it back together bit by bit. I finally got my kitchen painted again hoping to have a beautiful backdrop for holiday decorations. In the midst of finishing up the hallway that leads from our kitchen, I began on a mural on a whim. I’d been hoping to create one down this hallway eventually but when the paint bled through tape in the corner serendipity took over and I just went wild. The scene is a Southern landscape complete with Spanish moss and arching Live Oaks.

I’ve also been creating new work in the studio now that I’m finally settled back in here. New paintings are in the works as well as relief prints that will debut sometime this year.

Scroll below to see the mural and bits of holiday decor around my home.
