THE PROCESS
CAPTURING THE MUSE
Tell me what you want your piece to be inspired by. A feeling. A memory. Are there particular plants or animals that you feel are important in the painting? Are there certain paintings of mine that speak to you more than others? Is there somewhere specific you would like this piece to live?
CRAFT THE VISION
After deciding on the appropriate size I create a sketch and proposed color palette for your custom artwork. I’ll draw upon my own visual language made up of Baroque ornamentation, Elizabethan embroidery, and European folk art to add layers of intrigue and narrative.
I WORK MY MAGIC
With our combined vision as my guide, I begin the delicate process of layering washes of paint and fine linework to create something unique to what inspires you.
We opened the most lovingly packed box yesterday…, and it’s immediately apparent how much thought and care that Kara puts into everything she does. They are so perfect.

WATERCOLOR
Watercolor painting on heavyweight, hand-torn paper. This can be as simple or ornate as you desire.
