Artwork For a Woodland Inspired Nursery
The cool mossiness of the forest floor is like an instant chill pill. Earthy tones ground you and the instant hush from the outside world provides peace we can all use in our lives, especially when there’s an infant being brought into the mix. When a friend came to me and said she wanted to commission some pieces for her soon-to-be grandson’s nursery and she told me it was woodland animal-themed I was ecstatic. We chose to spin-off of my Walk in the Woods Collection and reimagine it with three pieces featuring baby animals.
So off I went, pulling out my watercolors, pencil, and embroidery thread to create a triptych with a wolf pup, fox kit, and bear cub. To tie them together I embroidered a waxing moon, sunburst, and waning moon behind each.
They’re now in their new home in Alexandria, Virginia over the most elegant changing table I’ve ever seen. The blue-green paint and the brass pull handles are so elegant and will grow with their baby boy who will hopefully giggle and daydream during diaper changes as he looks up at the artwork hovering overhead.

Subtle greens and wood tones hint at the woodland inspiration while still keeping it sophisticated.
