Collage of Curiosities No. 21

February 2025

As I sit here on my back deck in seventy degrees of sunshine watching a Bald Eagle glide over the still water, I can hardly believe that I was layering on wool socks and snow boots not two weeks ago. While February is always the shortest month, it flew by in, what felt like, a whirlwind trip of the Southeast. Yes, I took yet another road trip.

At the beginning of the month, I found out I would have the honor of being represented by the Grand Bohemian Lodge Gallery in Greenville, South Carolina. I was already heading north for a two-day meeting with fellow artists, so I added Greenville as a stop and delivered nine oil paintings into the hands of the Gallery director, also Kara (see below).

This space is moving and soulful. The Lodge is perched above waterfalls in the heart of Greenville and the decor speaks to the woods and the not-far-off mountains. When I had breakfast in the restaurant, aptly named “Between the Trees,” I found a quote inscribed on the menu from John Muir. “Between two pines is a doorway to a new world.” My artwork belongs here.

Dropping off work to the gallery was only the start of my over 2000-mile journey that ended up including outrunning a snowstorm, snuggling with my nephew, and doing some deep thinking/ planning with some of my favorite creative businesswomen. While trips like these are inevitably exhausting, they are also unbelievably invigorating.

This month I drove up to Greenville, South Carolina to deliver nine paintings to the Gallery at the Grand Bohemian Lodge. After meeting their gallery direct, also Kara, during the holidays and seeing the place for myself I felt it was a perfect location for my work. Luckily, they thought so too and I’m now represented by the gallery
